BODIES

MOVEMENT, ANATOMY & CREATIVITY

Fall series  2020

Dates

Attend one or all four!

Facilitators: Amy Olson, LCSW, CEDS-S and Liz Waddell, PT, DPT of Art of Movement Physical Therapy.

MOVEMENT

Think of that big delicious morning stretch where your body expands and comes alive. Maybe you add in a funky shake or growl because no one is looking? Yeah, its like that. We use movement explorations to slow down, find our flow, and move into nervous system regulation. Our own bodies, music and surrounding environment serve as muse. Science tells us that practices that increase a sense of ease and flow enhance immunity, fertility, digestion, and circulatory function.

ANATOMY

With a different anatomical focus for each session, you will learn amazing, useful things about your body. In motion, with your own hands you will practice experiential anatomy designed to gently guide your body toward healing and wholeness. Be-friend your body with understanding.

CREATIVITY

Movement gets our creative juices flowing. Even on a walk, we travel through a range of emotions, stories, and mental images. We have aha! moments, solve problems, and find new possibilities. Here we use writing and drawing prompts to capture the wisdom of the body and mind so we can put it to use right away. There are no physical requirements other than the ability to get up and down from the floor. You are free to use the assistance of a chair or other support if needed.

I really was surprised to find how relaxing it was to engage in movement - even in the Zoom format in front of strangers!
